Critical Hitbox Glitch Surfaces in Counter-Strike 2

CS2 Hitbox Glitch

Recent discoveries reveal a significant Hitbox Glitch in CS2. Twitter (currently X) user Joleksu unveiled a demonstration pinpointing the discrepancies between the visual player models and their server-registered locations.

Also, with IEM Sydney just starting, this pressing concern had taken center stage when it was discovered.

CS2 Hitbox Glitch Discovery

When Joleksu attempted to target a bot using the M4A4, his bullet seemed to miss despite perfect aim. Console command insights revealed that the bot’s actual hitbox trailed slightly behind its visual representation.

This Hitbox glitch results in players’ shots going astray even when they seemingly have a direct hit. A closer inspection highlighted multiple areas where CS2’s hitboxes fall short.

Echoes From the Past

Notably, as some gamers highlighted, there’s a lag between hitboxes and character avatars in motion. Ironically, this mirrors issues from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) that were resolved back in 2015. However, it’s puzzling that such a major hiccup has resurfaced in CS2 after nearly a decade.

ESL’s Response

Due to this emerging issue, ESL articulated its perspective by stating: “Bugs and issues are to be expected, and we will adapt accordingly. We encourage you to report any and all bugs, exploits, and issues to us so that we can work together to identify, attempt to develop any potential solutions, and conclude on things.”

Valve Responds

As the esports community grapple with these setbacks, all eyes are on Valve. Gamers have been eagerly awaiting their response to such widespread concerns.

Valve recently addressed these issues with a new patch, aiming to fix the concerned problems. This fixed the issue right on time before the tournament started.
