Dota 2 Showdown at the 19th Asian Games: China Edges Out Malaysia

China Dota 2

In a gripping Dota 2 match at the Asian Games 2023, China’s formidable team triumphed over Malaysia with a 2-1 score. They ended up securing their spot for the gold medal. This victory came on the back of the exceptional skills displayed by the renowned PSG.LGD trio: Ame, Somnus, and Chalice.

Having dominated their respective regional preliminaries in the Road to Asian Games in July, both China (East Asia) and Malaysia (Southeast Asia) were directly advanced to the event’s Playoffs.

With the line-ups of both teams boasting a mix of Dota 2 icons and seasoned players, they were widely tipped as the main contenders for the gold medal.

Early Game

Both nations had impressive starts: China clinched a victory against Thailand, while Malaysia overpowered Saudi Arabia. Their encounter in the semifinals was highly anticipated, as both teams were believed to have the potential to take the gold.

In the first game, China showcased its prowess. They set the pace early on with Somnus’s Earth Spirit and Chalice’s Broodmother, while Ame’s Monkey King expertly farmed.

However, Malaysia displayed resilience as they mounted comeback led by NothingToSay’s Tinker and Ghost’s Sven. In an intense 51-minute match, Malaysia emerged triumphant in Game One.

Chinese Dominance

Undeterred by the earlier setback, China came back fiercely in the second game. They made the score even with standout performances from Ame’s Morphling, Somnus’s Zeus, and Chalice’s Tidehunter.

In the deciding Game Three, China’s momentum was unstoppable. The synergy between Ame’s Faceless Void, Somnus’s Kunkka, and Chalice’s Magnus culminated in a 38-minute victory. This propelled them to the gold medal match.

Future Journey to Claiming Gold

As China waits in anticipation for the final showdown, their opponents will be determined by the outcome of the Mongolia vs. Kyrgyzstan semifinals. Though defeated, Malaysia still has a shot at glory as they’ll compete for the bronze medal.

This Asian Games Dota 2 event is taking place in Hangzhou, China. Teams from nations like Kazakhstan, Nepal, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Uzbekistan, among others, are competing not just for medals, but also for immense national pride.
