As The International 2023 (TI12) unfolds with its thrilling matches, Johan “N0tail” Sundstein and Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovski shed light on their top team predictions. Both have high hopes for European teams making a significant mark this year.
European Teams Shine at TI12, Say N0tail & Gorgc
During a recent co-stream of TI12, former OG support player with two TI championships under his belt, N0tail, highlighted his confidence in Tundra Esports, Team Spirit, Team Liquid, and Gaimin Gladiators.
He enthusiastically remarked, “Tundra, Spirit, and then we’re going to go Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators. All Europe, bro. Of course! This is easy.”
On being questioned about LGD Gaming, N0tail placed them after his chosen European teams. This hints at his strong belief that a European team will be this year’s champions.
On the other hand, Gorgc had a slightly divergent take as he picked 9Pandas and BetBoom Team. N0tail was quick to note that these two also belong from the broader European spectrum, specifically Western Europe (WEU).
The consensus between the two was clear: Europe currently leads the Dota 2 world in terms of competitive strength. It’s noteworthy that three of N0tail’s choices come from the CIS zone, which many consider an integral part of European Dota 2.
Performance Check: How Did Their Picks Fare?
N0tail’s top choice, Tundra Esports, showcased strength in the group phase. They achieved a commendable 7-1 score. Following closely, Team Spirit secured a flawless 8-0 in the group rounds. Team Liquid completed group stage with a score of 7-1 as well, while Gaimin Gladiators wrapped up with a respectable 5-3.
Here’s a look at the playoff stages based on N0tail’s predictions:
- Tundra Esports: Competing in the Lower bracket
- Team Spirit and Team Liquid: Both in the Upper bracket
- Gaimin Gladiators: Also battling in the Lower bracket
Gorgc’s choices saw 9Pandas completing the group stages with an even 4-4 score, and BetBoom Team impressing many with a 6-2 finish.
Interestingly, Gorgc’s two selections went head-to-head in a seeding match. The result was 9Pandas winning against BetBoom Team. So, BetBoom has been pushed to the lower bracket, while 9Pandas advanced to the upper bracket of the TI12 playoffs.
Road Ahead
This year’s TI undoubtedly showcases the might of European and CIS teams. As the event progresses, fans globally are on the edge of their seats, awaiting nail-biting games. With both N0tail and Gorgc highlighting the strength of European teams, the race for the Aegis of Immortal is heating up.
